Dr. Bephyer Parey
Research Fellow and Chair, Disability Studies Research Cluster, The University of the West Indies.

Dr. Bephyre Parey is a Research Fellow at the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES), St Augustine Campus, The University of the West Indies (UWI). She holds a BSc in Mathematics, an MSc in Statistics, and a PhD in Social Policy from The UWI. Her research explores the extent to which existing social policies and public services promote equality and social justice for persons with disabilities. With a focus on developing policy recommendations for life-course-oriented inclusion, Dr. Parey examines disability-related issues across age groups in areas such as education, employment, health and social care, and overall wellbeing. She has an established record of high-quality international publications and actively disseminates her research through diverse channels, including policy briefs and newspaper articles. As Chair of The UWI’s Disability Studies Research Cluster, Dr. Parey leads multiple research projects and public awareness campaigns aimed at advancing the inclusion of persons with disabilities in society. In addition to her research, she teaches courses on research design and social statistical analysis. Her excellence in teaching has been recognised through the UWI/Guardian Group Premium Teaching Award (2022) and her election as a Fellow of the UK’s Advance Higher Education (2023).
